- Alternate Between More Than 2 Playlists (Evenly-shuffled playlists.)
- Make playlists of various artists then evenly shuffle them together into a new playlist.
- (artist1, artist2, artist3, artist4, artist5, artist1, artist2, artist3, artist4, artist5, artist1, artist2, artist3, artist4, artist5, )
- Alternate between more than 2 genres:
- Bluegrass - Rock - Jazz - Alternative - Country - Metal
- Make a Playlist According to "Beats per Minute"
- One "tag" you can add to MP3 files is "beats per minute" (BPM), at least in iTunes 4. I never noticed it before.
- Adding this BPM info to your files allows making interesting playlists such as the following.
- A playlist of songs that move at the same speed you walk.
- A playlist of songs that is ideal for doing exercises at your normal speed.
- A playlist of songs that promotes better learning. (Some research says 60 bpm is ideal for this. http://www.nprinc.com/catalog/char-ed/char-dev/lamb.htm)
- A playlist that is the same tempo as your target heart rate. (See http://inch-aweigh.com/calc_target.htm to calculate this.)
- You can sort your playlists using the BPM field, so tunes either gradually get faster or slower.
- To find the BPM of a tune, use one of the following:
- Make a Playlist with a Theme
- Rainy Day Songs - Tunes with "rain" in the title or in the lyrics.
- Night Songs
- Cheating Songs
- Love Songs
- Dog Songs
- Drinking Songs
- Make a Playlist for a Purpose
- Dancing Music
- Driving Music
- Music for Meditation
- Music to Put Me to Sleep
- Music to Wake Up To
- Campfire Songs
- Songs I Like to Sing Along With
- Make a Smart Playlist using "Comment" contains ___
- In the comments of the MP3 files' tags, type in keywords such as the following (see above suggestions): rain, night, cheating, love
- Then with iTunes (3 or newer) "smart lists," you can create playlists quickly with "Comment contains dog" to get a "Dog Songs" playlist.
